NHF support during October 2009, flood in Kurnool and Mahboob Nagar.
NHF responded immediately to the havoc created during the never before seen flood's in October 2009 in Kurnool and Mahboobnagar districts of Andhra Pradesh , India . In total we have reached Govardhana Giri , Budda Basavapuram, Ayyavari Palli, Palle Padu, Chinna Goda, Pulluru, Vaishnava palli, Voddegeri, Kurnool Town and Gumadam of (Nandi Kotkur Mandal, Kurnool dist) These villages seemed to be a heap of ruins. Not a single roof top is left safe. Not a single house is untouched; the municipal water tank which stands about 35 feet above the ground, as said by the residents was totally submerged for 2 days in water. In real sense the flood water was flowing above 30 feet in these areas.
As said by some of the village elders there "We have lived all our lives in shackles and when at last we got a pakka house built under 'Indiramma Houses' (a govt promoted construction of houses for poor program), we have not lived even for one year under these roofs and today we are not even left with the shackles."
NHF distributed 5Kg rice, one utensil, a plate, a spoon, a saree, a dhoti, a blanket, 100 gram tamarind, 150 gm Toor dal, a salt packet, 100gm Chilli powder and 100 gm turmeric powder per family.

The modern society has become very susceptible to the havocs of nature and odds of man made origin. In the recent years we have seen earth quakes, floods, famines, droughts, tsunami and the attack of various life threatening diseases. Government authorities round the world have are trying to the best what they can. As a part of NHF effort we provide assistance directly or indirectly to any of the disasters that we may have to see in the future.
We look forward in providing relief support or adopting the children rendered homeless or orphans etc, help the inhabitants return to their livelihood activities, provide food, drinking water, medicine & sanitation facilities which are the most required in these times.
