NHF Note Book Distribution program

NHF has distributed note books to the poor children of 13 Govt primary schools in Rajendra Nagar Mandal of Hyderabad and 3 Govt primary schools of Kosgi Mandal, in Mahboob Nagar dist. We have taken due care to ensure the school drop outs are minimized. Our continued effort and follow up with the schools and the children has ensured we get repeat students. We had 82% repeat students for this academic year.
This year we have identified another 7 schools to the last years 6 schools and have ensured the poor children are supported with the basic necessities for their education. The 3 schools added from Mahboob Nagar are our first steps towards future large scale rural projects.

Flood Relief

NHF, reached 14 villages, from 4th of oct till 22nd Oct. The worst hit villages we visited were Vaishnava palli and Gumadapuram of (Nandi Kotkur Mandal, Kurnool dist), approx 120 kilometers interior from Kurnool Hyderabad highway (NH 7). These villages seemed to be a heap of ruins. Not a single roof top was left safe. Not a single house is untouched; the municipal water tank which stands about 35 feet above the ground, as said by the residents was totally submerged for 2 days in water. In real sense the flood water was flowing above 30 feet in these areas.
As said by some of the village elders there “We have lived all our lives in shackles and when at last we got a pakka house built under ‘Indiramma Houses’ (a govt promoted construction of houses for poor program), we have not lived even for one year under these roofs and today we are not even left with the shackles.”
The village elders who are over 80 years they have never seen such a flood. NHF team has distributed one utensil, a plate, a spoon, a saree, a dhoti, a blanket, 2 and half KG Rice, 100 gram tamarind, 150 gm Toor dal, a salt packet, 100gm Chilli powder and 100 gm turmeric per family.  The happiness that we found over their faces was beyond imagination. It gave great satisfaction for every team member to serve such worst affected. We wish to reach out to the most remote areas possible and serve people where little help is going.
